Press release: Greater participation of the economy in the creation of a legislative framework


The Ministry of Economy believes that communication with representatives of the business sector and executive authorities, with a special emphasis on the removal of business barriers through the adoption of legislation and cooperation with local self-government, is of great importance to both the Government of Montenegro and the economy, said Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić, at the meeting with the representatives of the Association of Montenegrin Managers (AMM), in front of which, besides the President Budimir Raičković, was attended by the Vice President Radovan Radulović and the Executive Director of the Association, Anđela Radosavović.

Minister Sekulić pointed out that in the current year, she will work on the adoption of the Law on Business Companies, inviting representatives of the Association to comment and comment on the text while it is in the form of drafting. The Minister recalled the projects implemented by the Ministry of Economy, which are related to facilities aimed at developing the economy, increasing investments and reducing unemployment. Sekulic emphasized the importance of promoting these projects through visiting municipalities in Montenegro, as well as through direct communication with business people.

The President of the Association pointed out that it is a very useful opportunity for AMM to have an influence in the creation of the Law and other legal acts that would apply to the sector of economy.

“The participation of business associations in the formation of economic policy is very important, especially through strengthening cooperation with the executive power on a partnership basis,” Raičković emphasized, proposing to create “local business clubs” in which the formation and work of interested business associations, local businessmen, and full support from local governments and the Ministry of Economy.

A high level of agreement was reached on the need to promote state support to companies and projects aimed at production and export, and thus mitigate and reduce the trend of growth in Montenegro’s import dependence and high trade deficit.

Representatives of the Association of Managers expressed the view that the state should be even more powerful to pay attention to the development of human resources in the economy and out of the country, as the cornerstone of the overall socio-economic development of Montenegro.

The Ministry of Economy will support the project “Selection of the Most Successful Managers and Entrepreneurs of the Year” organized by AMM, around which the most important business associations of Montenegro have gathered, because it represents a very significant event in the context of support to the development of management and the overall business environment.
